2. Time: 22nd of April – 24th of April
3. Place: Hotel Union, Ljubljana, Slovenia
4. Participants: 450
5. Contributors: 360
6. Brief report:
Conference addressed personal as well as societal aspects of everyday life of people, characterised by shifting away from the welfare state, towards social investment state, as Giddens describes it. In current altered context people are treated as market portfolios, reducing the role of social workers to manage state investments, reduce and eliminate possible risks. Science of social work should be, today more than ever, committed to critical perspectives and the development of socially engaged, autonomous practice.
Conference was chaired by two distinguished professors; Darja Zaviršek from University of Ljubljana, Faculty of social work and Guy Enosh from University of Haifa, Faculty of social welfare and health studies.
Exactly 450 participants had an opportunity to experience 360 of lecturers and presenters, giving outstanding insights into research findings and research agenda of social work.
