Students acquire the necessary knowledge of family law as used in social work. They become acquainted with social workers' powers and role in the field of family relations, such as in the counselling interview during separation, parenthood determination, the formation of the opinion of the social work centre about child-raising, childcare, contacts and child support, in the adoption procedure, in giving the child over to foster care and child custody and guardianship. Students also become acquainted with legal instruments which enable efficient protection of the right and benefit of participants in family relations. Special emphasis is laid on the protection of the children's benefit and the social worker's authority to protect this right.
