Chair of Social and legal sciences

Head of chair: Srečo Dragoš ...

The Chair of Social and Legal Sciences is the organisational framework of a cluster of general courses taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The other two clusters of courses, which equally form the diversity of the overall curricula, are the special and the linking clusters of courses. The special cluster consists of the courses whose content is specific to social work theory and practice to an extent that they cannot be found in any comparable faculties, while the linking cluster of courses brings together the courses that focus mainly on the application of knowledge gained from other disciplines related to social work. The cluster of general courses is characterised by three features: it is available in other faculties with similar or identical content, it is not specific to social work, but is indispensable for the social science orientation or the profession for which we train at the Faculty of Social Work. Therefore, the main aim of our chair is to provide adequate span and quality of general courses, as we are aware that without them social work would be reduced to technique and rendered incapable of reflecting on the circumstances in which its users live.
