Eligibility

Admission requirements

The second cycle Master's degree programme is open to students who have completed:

(a) a study programme of at least first cycle, evaluated at least 240 credits, in the field of social work or an equivalent study programme obtained in accordance with the existing regulations in the Republic of Slovenia or abroad;

b) a study programme of at least a first cycle attested by at least 240 credits in other professional fields or an equivalent study programme obtained in accordance with the previous regulations in the Republic of Slovenia or abroad, provided that the student has passed the differential examinations (30 credits) prior to enrolment, which includes 4 subjects of 5 credits and a Practicum of 10 credits. The subjects are: Contemporary Social Work in Slovenia, Theories and Methods in Social Work, Introduction to a Working Relationship of Co-creation, Methodology of Research in Social Work, and the Practicum.

c) a study programme of at least a first cycle valid for at least 180 credits or an equivalent study programme obtained according to the previous regulations in the Republic of Slovenia or abroad, provided that the student has completed the study requirements of the additional year (Supplementary Programme) prior to enrolment.

 

Certificates, diplomas and other qualifications issued outside Slovenia have to undergo recognition of foreign education. The equivalence of foreign education is determined in the procedure set by the Statute of the University of Ljubljana. The procedure must conclude before admission.

Recognition of foreign education

Certificates, diplomas and other qualifications issued outside Slovenia have to undergo recognition of foreign education. The equivalence of foreign education is determined in the procedure set by the Statute of the University of Ljubljana. The procedure must conclude before admission.

Selection criteria

If there are more candidates than available places, the candidates’ undergraduate study achievement will be considered (the average grade excluding the grade of the graduation thesis).

Eligibility and selection criteria apply equally to the graduates of reformed (first-cycle) and to those of pre-reformed Bachelor programmes.


Recognition of other achievements

Knowledge and skills acquired through formal, informal or experiential learning may be recognised as fulfilling certain requirements in the educational process. For their recognition the student can submit:

  • Certificates of concluded courses, summer schools, or other forms of education
  • Published articles or other authored works
  • Evidences of awards or prizes or nominations thereof
  • Work certificates or evidences of practical experiences

Requests of recognition will be considered and assessed in credit points by the Committee for postgraduate studies.
