At the start of the project it was planned that in five years Dom na Krasu will transform itself into a web of community services. For the transformation to be successful, necessary training had to be provided for the professionals in the institution. Interdisciplinary collaboration and direct work with users had to be strengthened. By the end of the training we made sure that the professionals in the institution were equipped with the necessary tools for the transformation from institutional to community service provision.

Training was designed in at least two important aspects. First, a part of the training was informative – professionals were informed about the crucial processes, assumptions, and methods for deinstitutionalisation. Second, a part of training was formative – professionals were trained to adopt new methods and ways of working and, additionally, to develop new methods.

The training contained the following thematical joints: crucial concepts and principles of deinstitutionalisation, integration of users in the processes of decision-making, personalised care, risk management without restraint, establishing services in community, management of deinstitutionalisation.
