Summary:
The aim of the project was to increase knowledge in the field of attention deficit disorders in students and to provide both parents and teachers with a suitable manual to help students overcome learning difficulties, find suitable sources of strength, organize free time and thus achieve greater independence. Due to the overburdened student counseling system, the current wait time at the counseling center is 1 to 2 years. There were no manuals that address the issue of attention deficit disorder holistically. In the handbook, on the one hand, by presenting attention deficit disorder, causes and signs, we wanted to present the personal stories of parents, teachers and experts about their experiences. This contributed to more knowledge and a more inclusive environment for diversity. Because we were working with a publisher, students had the opportunity to learn about the entire process of publishing - from ideation to content to writing to the publication itself. Throughout the project mentors provided guidance and ongoing support in the creation of the material, established appropriate guidance and support in conducting conversations and gathering experiences from people who have faced attention deficit disorder.
By increasing the knowledge of both teachers and parents, we contributed to a more appropriate treatment of children and adolescents with ADHD and to the acceptance of their differences.
